    elective rotations

    Advertisements

Whats the deal with elective rotations... can we basically do them at ANY hospital we want? Im confused on how this works. I know that we are suppose to set up our own elective rotations. Is it possible to do all of your core rotations and then set up all your electives in one city so that maybe you can stay in one place for fourth year? The thought of setting up your OWN rotations sounds too good to be true.... whats the catch? Also, I know that we (AUA students) can't practice in Tennessee..... but can we do our rotations in Tenn? Thanks for the responses guys.

really. Thats kind of stupid because AUA has maybe TWO elective rotations that are green book! So... does that mean that we have to do some blue book rotations? Seriously, I only know of one greenbook elective rotation in radiology. What other green elective does AUA have? Appreciate any response guys. thanks

any hospital with greenbook IM has all electives except Neuro and i think EM are green. i think i'm giving up in doing all green electives, the only state near me that really requires them is Pennsylvania and they are starting to open up as far as that goes.

From what I understood, the electives that are green in a hospital where IM is green are IM subspecialities (cards, GI, pulm, etc). I'm pretty sure ENT is not a green elective in a hospital where there is only a green IM program. I think ENT would be green, though, in a hospital where Surgery is green. Is this correct?

most surgery electives i.e. ENT, are greenbook as long as vascular and gen surgery are green there. As far as IM goes, obv the IM subspec. are green as long as IM is green.

As far as setting up your electives goes, you guys might want to get in touch with the hospitals you want/plan on doing the electives at soon, verrrrry soon before 4th year starts, cuz the paperworks takes a while (from personal experience).
