    Advertisements

HI does anyone know if wycoff in nyc losing it's greenbook status because the hospital it is affiliated with is closing (this hospital is what makes it greenbook) or is this a rumor. Please give me some details.

I also heard some varying stories that only ob/gyn is not going to be greenbook..Help thanks!

AOA is the Osteopathic (DO) equivalent to the ACGME for MDs

Only the OB/Gyn rotation is being affected. Wyckoff Heights operates a AOA certified DO Residency in OB/Gyn, where MD residents in OB/Gyn from St. Johns Hospital do some rotations. That MD residency at St Johns Hospital is where the ACGME certification is coming from, and that is the hospital which is shutting down.

So, now the Wyckoff Heights OB/Gyn rotation will be AOA certified only, not ACGME certified.
From what I hear, MD students (thats us) can do a total 16 weeks of DO rotations, the rest have to be MD... greenbook or otherwise.

So far, this is the only core rotation which is being affected to this extent is OB/Gyn. Some electives which were certified through the other hospitals will no longer be available.

All that stuff about the AOA rotating internship has nothing to do with us. Its the Internship for DOs.

The General Surgery rotation at Wyckoff is DO... it might have been MD also, at one point... but its DO now

I do not know if the Emergency Medicine elective at Wyckoff is greenbook, but I dont think so.

Its probably a good idea to call or email Wyckoff to find out for sure.
