    couple questions about rotations

    Advertisements

    1. can you schedule the order of rotations. if i want to do IM first followed by peds or do i have to follow a certain order? If i can schedule the order of rotations, is there an order that you recommend?

    2. i've heard some rotations may offer free housing, is that true? if so, which are they?

    3. if i have any clinical rotation questions whose the best admin staff to talk with?

    thanks

    1. yes
    2. the VA hospital we have in NY has free housing for the 6-week Psych rotation
    3. Personally, I would look up the answers myself using an official source like the ACGME, a hospital administrator or a state licensing board official.

it makes no difference what order you do them in. it is however important to schedule peds at wyckoff as soon as humanly possible. then schedule ob as soon as possible.

by soon as possible, i mean as soon as you get your step 1 score back - not that you should complete those core rotations first. the typical wait time for peds at wyckoff is around 1 year, because it is our only greenbook peds rotation outside puerto rico.

then schedule the rest ahead of ob and peds in any order. try to do medicine as early as possible because you need those skills later on. try not to do electives before cores, or at least choose electives appropriately. ie. dont do cardiology without doing IM first.
