    Advertisements

    Hey 3rd and 4th years-

I was wondering if anyone who has done rotations at Wycoff can tell about their experience and/or what to do to be successful there?
I have heard we can do IM, FM, Surgery, Peds, and GI elective-
plz guys tell us what you have heard or experienced!

    Thanks-

I wrote a detailed post about GI here:

Peds is ok, you learn much more but see fewer patients if you opt to do your first three weeks at St. Johns Queens. There's an outpatient component, an ER component, a nursery component, and an inpatient component. There is a nice post about Peds in this forum somewhere, but I can't seem to find it.

I didn't do anything else at Wyckoff.

OB/GYN at wycoff is pretty good so far. I'm about to start my second week. I was really scared of starting at the hospital after reading all the posts here
    1. I heard it was really ghetto/in the ghetto
    - honestly, not ghetto at all compared to other hospitals, and whoever called the area ghetto obviously hasn't seen chicago south side --- just sayin. It's not that bad
    2. Too many students
    - agreed, but in ob/gyn they split you into groups of 7/8 and you rotate through diff fields like sono, clinics, labor and delivery... etc
    3. Weird strict rules
    - agreed, some kid in our rotation got kicked out his first week for wearning scrubs to buy lunch from a street vendor right in front of the hospital. You also must wear your lab coat at all times and so on and so forth... gah

i can't think of anything else, but ob/gyn has been good so far
    good luck
