    Affordable Student Housing

    Advertisements

    Hey Guys,
I know with the financial crisis some people are looking for a affordable place to live. Someone turned me onto Serendipity Apartments ,which is literally 2 minutes walk from West Campus, and they are having a student special for 2 bedroom apartments. They are asking for $425 a month per person in a two bedroom apartment, and the person told me in the $600 range for studios. Like I said earlier short walk to West Campus and right by the Epicurian. There is a pool on site, 24 hour security and a back up generator (which will be very beneficial this upcoming semester), I will attach the flyer given to me. Take a look.

The flyer was too large to attach, here is the website. Please disregard the rates on the page, just call and ask for the student discounted rates for next semester.
    Cheers!

I lived at Serendipity my last semester on the island. I had a small studio that was fully furnished as was about the size of a college dorm room and equipped like a U.S. apartment. Housekeeping came once a week and was included in your rent. Suds Laundry was on the premise so you have a place to get your laundry done. I paid $750 a month if I'm not mistaken and had a $1K security deposit which I got all back in cash before I left the island. I ran the air constantly when i was home and just used a fan at night and my utilities were $90-100 a month on average. What few maintenance problems I had (just normal stuff) were immediately taken care of by the management. There weren't that many people living at Serendipity when I was there, so there wasn't alot of noise.

It was a 12 minute walk up to the old campus and maybe about 5 minutes over to Epicurean. When I was there, you could catch the bus in the AM over to the new campus and then catch the afternoon shuttle back to the old campus. I've heard the bus schedule has changed since I left the island, so you may have to use a local taxi to get to the new campus if that's where your classes are (2nd / 4th semesters).

The biggest drawback to living at Serendipity was having to walk that 1/3rd mile dirt road in the rain that leads from the apartment to the main paved road. I was one big mud puddle once it started raining. I brought me a pair of Crocs to wear so I could just rinse them off once I got to the main campus. If they've paved the road since then, no worries.

It's a pretty convenient location if you don't have a car.
