    Wow, what an upgrade.

We added 2 new instructors to our faculty this semester, both completed all their USMLE exams, also completed their residency (NYU) and a fellowship. If thats not enough one of them has 6 years of employment with Kaplan and the other has 3 years all teaching experience. In addition to teaching their courses they meet with us in the evenings for reviews on their own time, on campus. They are telling us (and preparing us) we need to pass the USMLE with a minimum 240 score and after the first few days of the new semester I believe most of us will. It's like an intense private board review program.

    Priceless...

Sorry, what school am I talking about Atlantic University School of Medicine of course.

Was waiting till the end of this week to post exactly what u have up there Newguy!... But yes, Week 1 of MD4 done...and these above 2 professors are amazzzing!!. Just like Newguy said...it def feels like a Private board reveiw program!...with Step 1 questions being thrown at us at every bend,.. Its an awesome way of reviewing the material in class without having to go look up questions!...espicially when ur prof has taught Kaplan for 6 yrs!...

Oh well...i def know i have my work cut out for me this sem!..

It gets even better, I spent 45 mins with our new instructor while he explained a concept I didn't really understand but do now. More important he explained how I would use the information and apply it to a clinical patient. Then we went over board questions he has from Kaplan on the topic. He explained why the right answers were right and why the wrong answers were wrong. We also went over exam strategies and distractors used in the USMLE questions. What a difference, at my old school (WU) there would be no way to review like this and if I want to review an exam I had to pay a fee.

I had the pleasure today of speaking to some premedical science students as well as a few in the third and fourth term. I am always one to learn the truth. I heard how hard Atlantic works for each student, (heck one told me how some faculty even meet with students in the evenings and on weekends to help) providing tutoring and scheduling class so that the students have time to study. Also how most of the faculty are very willing to work with the students. Don't no why I keep going back to this school, maybe b/c tuition is reasonable and i need to pay out of pocket. but fully intend to file my application...met with some admin in NY last week as well. Good people, open and honest. I am sure there will be hiccups but hey I want the best bang for my buck.......Thanks ..........

Best bang for your buck? Are you being serious right now? You are applying to medical school not buying a car.

I think it's just an expression, meaning "get the most value for your money." Medical school is expensive and, let's just be honest, there are several Caribbean med schools out there charging 2 or 3 times AUSOM's tuition for a pretty mediocre medical education. To me it just sounds like ladysman is just doing due diligence in checking out his potential med school.

Yes anytime a school makes it's students happy and the students say something about it they are admin, just like the ridicule Chris got when he was telling everyone that he passed steps1 & 2. He was admin too, until he listed his match result. Dude everyone knows I transferred in from another school and posted an old bill from that school to show what a ripoff they were. Come on down and spend some time on campus, I'll pick you up at the airport that is of course unless your admin..
