New Students january 2012 semester please open

I will be going to AUSOM this coming January and I think it'd be interesting if all the new coming students get together on this forum to communicate together and discuss housing, books, and remind each others of things we'll need on the island. This will be good to find roommates in advance or share information regarding housing.

    Hi,
Can someone provide me more insight about the school? Where are the clinical rotations will be done? Is it accredited? Is it class or block system based? what is the grading criteria there ?
I appreciate your time and consideration

    Regards

I dont know much about Atlantic but I saw your post on the AUA forum. AUA has Cali and NY approval and clinical rotations in many states. They have student loans but it requires a good credit score. Keep that in mind.

    Hi Hala,

I posted my replies to the other thread you had under AUA by mistake. i'm not sure if you saw it but here it is again:

The curriculum is class based and the schedule goes as follows:

    MD1 - Anatomy, Histology/cell biology, Epidemiology/biostat, DPS
    MD2 - Physiology, Neuroanatomy, Biochemistry
    MD3 - Micro/Immunology, Pathology I, Behavioral Science
MD4 - Pharmacology, Pathology II, ICM

Grades are: 70 and below is failing, 70 and above is passing, 92 and above is honors. You do get 2 chance to retake a class's final exam in case you fail it the first time. We do our rotations in Chicago, you start with MD5 which is pretty much a preparatory term for the USMLE along with ICM then you proceed to rotations, I have friends doing there rotations there now, the hospital is Jackson Park Hospital. The school is accredited and you can find the accreditation on the school's site. I noticed you that compared it to Ross, and in case you are considering to transfer I thought I'd let you know that I know a few students who transferred from Ross and haven't had any problem adjusting. They are all on their way to Chicago as they finished their fourth semester last week and there are others who are already done with their MD5 getting ready for their steps. Thus far I've had great professors who have been very helpful. The class size is very good and the professors are very attentive.

I'm hoping I was able to answer all of your questions, but if you have any more you can contact me at aamorsy @ live.com or skype me on ahmedaasfour

    Best of luck

    Ahmed
