    Studying Tips for students

    Advertisements

    Hi all,

I noticed that there isn't much discussion regarding our actual goal in AUSOM: becoming Doctors. I'm pretty sure that there is a lot of studying, so can previous students recommend ways of studying, short cuts, present reviews for the professors, recommend books, certain equipment etc? Students from all semester should join in. Thanks everyone

I agree with your suggestion. It will be nice to have some input from the Senior students. If not we would have to tough it out.

I agree, it doesn't seem like a lot of AUSOM students are on this forum willing to talk about these things. Anyway, just a tip, I just bought my books, I calculated everything that we'd need to buy from the bookstore and with the cheapest prices it all came out to 1125 USD, roughly, I looked them up on amazon and was able to get them cheaper, I'm sure if I was patient enough I could've bought some from other students, well the total on amazon came out to 720 USD with shipping (some of the books were overnight). I found out that amazon has a student special for some books where you can have books shipped for free within 2 days all you need is a school email. Regarding the hotels, I found a great priced hotel close to campus on kayak.com you should check it out, my hotel is called oceanview we'll see how good it is. Also, I found out that the school offers a payment plan of a 1000 up front, 1000 on the first day of orientation, 1000 30 days after and the rest 30 days after the latter you might want to check this out with Ms Panell at their NY office. Flying there, the tickets on delta are greatly priced, just try to check their site at different times since sometimes the prices differ depending on the time you visit the site. As I pack I'll come up with my own checklist and put it up here. ps: try to find a suit if you don't have one, you never know if we'll need to get dressed professionally during events (ie: white coat ceremony, orientation, interviews, etc) I'm trying to find BRS books, other students in other schools recommend studying from them for their corresponding classes, i'll post here if I find them cheaper somewhere if anyone does please let us know
