anyone been to this school for more than a year

I think that it be more meaningful if a student who has been to this school for more than a year come onto this forum and give us his or her input.
Seriously majority of you AUSOM supporters only been to this school for a month or two, it isn't enough to be a cheerleader.

who knows what would happen after a year

This is the first semester for AUSOM so how can they have a student thats been there for over a year. Trust me in a month or two you can get a feeling for any school. They are proud of the there school. Let them be happy for the decision they have made. If it was a bad school, I'm pretty sure they wouldn't be advertising for them.

Although I disagree with the idea that a month or two will give you the full feeling of a school because there are so many things that occur behind the scenes in the hands of the administration that the students are unaware of, I do have to agree with the above poster in that this school has only been open two months almost and therefore it is physically impossible for any student to have already been there for a year.......

Hey I'm a student currently at AUSOM.. I saw that you were thinking about AUSOM.. Let me know if you have any questions.. I just found out about our value md page.. Heres a little bit about me.. I transfered from Windsor.. I did two semester over there. I can tell u that it is definitely better then Windsor.. The only thing they lack is a track record but I have no concerns about the school closing down or having problems in clinicals. I urge you to come visit the school.. We had two students come from IAU which is another school in St. Lucia and as soon as they saw the campus they were already looking for places to live for next year..The admin at AUSOM are great and they are very helpful and friendly to approach. That was one of the big problems I had at Windsor. The school is next to the new national hospital that is being built. Once the new hospital is open, a lot of the profs at AUSOM will be working at the new national hospital. The profs are really experience in there field and they were all practicing physicians at sometime.. Some schools have foreign prof that have finished there basic science at a medical school teaching.. aka Windsor. One main reason I transfered was that the fifth semester USMLE program at AUSOM is really good. The clinical dean of AUSOM is a faulty member of Drexel College of Medicine and has taught USMLE review programs for years.

IAU takes the shelf exam and they said IAU was in the one percentile on the shelf exam and even after the school curves the grades. More than 75 percent fail and stay behind. Also IAU is located in Vieux Fort which isn't developed as much as Castries and Rodney Bay.. I live in Rodney Bay and I drive to school in Castries. 20 min drive. If your in Rodney Bay you almost feel your in America and the grocery store they have is like whole foods in the US. Your more comfortable and you will study better with less stresses about food and activities to do..IAU is an hour and half drive through the mountains to get to rodney bay so its not close. Also they had a problem with there physiology prof leaving and the school wasn't able to teach the course correctly.. I urge you to visit the schools.. I personally love Atlantic. If you come visit Atlantic University School of Medicine. I'll be in St. Lucia and leaving in August for MD5 in New Brunswick, NJ..I would love to fill you in about the school. Also I don't think they are NY approved and they advertise that the are.. SO I don't know..
