Questions about English-taught MBBS at Fudan University

    Advertisements

    Hi,

I'm interested in applying for MBBS at Fudan in 2013. I already have my BA in psychology from an American university and currently take pre-med courses as I didn't do a lot of science courses during my high school. I didn't even graduate from high school since I took GED. I'm not a U.S. citizen or a permanent resident. So I drop the idea of medical school here.

I contacted ISO and was told that pre-med credits can't be transferred. I was also told that the admission is competitive, and that I still have to submit TOEFL/IELTS even though I obtained my BA in the U.S.

I'd like to know....for those who already have their bachelor's degree. How did you make your application stand out? Will they look at your GPA during your college years, especially science and math classes? Are the "self-test" and the examination the same thing?

    Thank you,

    mukurou,

Admissions is competitive at Fudan (it's the only one that's competitive among English MBBS programs in China). You can't make your application stand out, there's no personal statement or essay. It's a matter of what your grades were, and where you graduated from. I'm sure it helps if you had math and science classes in college and got good grades in them.

The self test is the exam. Basically, you just take a math, chemistry, and physics exam, and grade yourself. Their expectation is that you at least got a 60%, to make sure you have the basic mathematical and scientific knowledge/concepts to be able to begin school there. Of course, I'm sure a higher score will help make your application look better. I reviewed chemistry and physics textbooks before taking it, and I'm glad I did. From what I found, the answer key has a few wrong answers. I think they do that intentionally to test your integrity.

Also, they schedule a skype interview if they think your application materials are satisfactory, which I will be having next weekend. So, I guess you can make yourself shine during that.

A tip: the application window is only 2 weeks!!! Make sure you have everything prepared and turned in on time when you apply next year. You have to apply directly to the university.

    Hi shui3000 and mukurou,

I am interested in applying to Fudan this year (2016) and was wondering if you guys were successful in your applications? How do you find Fudan University and what is this self-test about? \ Also what was your next choice at the time of your application, if not Fudan? So sorry for the spam of questions! Hope you guys can clarify some of my doubts Also most Fudan related forums date back to 2012 and there havent been any updated since, so I am a bit worried about that too :S

About what I know my friend, it is no longer needed to do the self-test. Now the application relies on your curriculum and grades (I think). I am also interested on applying to Fudan University.
