Try these links:
IMED - FAIMER International Medical Education Directory - School Details
apparently valuemd censors out "******". the school's web address is:
"w w w . o s h m e d . c o m" according to IMED.
Can someone please share some details about this school? Are they approved by W.H.O? I know they are listed in the IMED, which is great.
Does the medical faculty teach in English which is comprehensible?
How are the examinations like? (MCQ only, or essay questions included?)
PLEASE SHARE ANY DETAILS YOU MAY HAVE ABOUT THIS SCHOOL! I have heard of IMS (international medical school in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan) Is OSH better or IMS?
Thanks a million!
Okay...I got some messages from some students asking about schools in Kyrgyzstan so just bumping this thread because I have some updates.
Stay away from all medical schools in Kyrgyzstan if you are a foreigner!!! I had the chance to interact with a few students who attend medical schools there (foreign students) and they all stated that they had to pay bribes to the faculty in order to pass classes/exams. The faculty gets paid less than $1000 USD and you won't believe this: The faculty actually has to pay the administration to keep their jobs! The cash that they pay the administration, they compensate that amount by bribing the foreign medical students!
PLEASE DO NOT GET FOOLED BY THE LOW FEES! The medical schools of Kyrgystan (mainly OSH and International Bishkek) have hired agents acting as messengers between the school and the student. Osh states that its fees is $1600 and after you send the application and all your passport details, the agent will write back to you that you need to pay him $500 in order to get you a student visa. They do not send you an acceptance letter--infact they don't even use the word "ACCEPTED." Rather, they will say that you have been "invited."
I cannot emphasize it enough, PLEASE DO NOT EVEN BOTHER TO LOOK IN THE POST-SOVIET UNION REPUBLIC IF YOU ARE A FOREIGN STUDENT. YOU WILL GET RIPPED OFF RIGHT AND LEFT! BEWARE!
