    Are you local?

Anyways, here's how they compute your results. For locals, they select based on your 3 A Level subjects, General Paper and Project work as the academic cutoff (counted into 50% of total score) for selection into the interview.

If you get shortlisted good for you, if not can always try other universities or take another route, or try again. Once you're shortlisted, another 50% of the score will be based on your portfolio (consist of personal statement and 2 letters of reference and a list of Co-curricular activities you took part in) and your 2 interviews and the essay test (in year 2006 the question was on professionalism in medicine).

If you're not local, the computation is pretty much still the same i guess, though i must say it's really competitive to get in, locals with perfect scores not being able to enter and all, and the quota for international students is quite small i believe?

Also, do take note that, if you want to apply for tuition grant, then you would be bonded to the Singapore government for 6 years. But if you can afford (the fees are really exorbitant), then yes, you go unbonded.

I, unfortunately, didn't make it pass the first round of shortlisting... so... yeaps... All the best, don't let what i say discourage you if you have stellar grades and good Co-curricular activity record with good LORs and all, chances are you'll be able to get in.

Thank you for the information! I am a Malaysian..I have been asking around for info for quite some time. The brother of a friend of mine got invited by NUS to take the medical course there. Later he was the top 3 in med school and was sent to Cambridge under NUS. From what I heard, he has already graduated and is now a heart surgeon. Another friend's sister just graduated last month or something. She was an ASEAN scholar and studied under the Singapore A levels and according to her, the competition is really tough. So yeah...all in all it's not very encouraging.

    Anyway you are a Singaporean?

Yup. Am from Singapore myself. But, as i couldn't get into NUS, currently applying to other schools. Just went to KL for International Medical University's interview for february's admission. Actually, i just wanted to know is IMU quite renown in Malaysia?

Well..it is quite renown in malaysia..But i wouldnt suggest it..Their standard is now so good..and they conduct their teaching using plastics instead of real bodies. But most ppl go there because they have good partner medical schools overseas. Honestly places like singapore or russia is much much better.

...i'm already half-foot sunk into it... But from what i hear, learning from plastics may not be that bad...also, cos i'm from Singapore, and couldn't get into Singapore's only medical school, and no russian school is viable.. the most feasible (financially-least taxing) will be to go into IMU

depends on how you look at it, plastic bodies may not be that bad. at the very least you can view the same things over and over again as the plastic bodies are there. unlike cadavers where you only dissect it and look at it once before disposing of it. my sister is currently doing her first year medical studies in imu..personally neither she nor I would recommend the university..it has too many flaws compared to its good points. but i understand that sometimes we can't afford to be too picky in our choices.

Do you mind telling me on the flaws? Cos' i really can't gather as much info as i am in Singapore, and the number of Malaysian students studying there, and the knowledge of the university is really limited to just that one visit i made to the university for my interview...

i cant tell u abt the flaws but why don't u try Penang Medical College? It has a good twinning system with medical uiversity in dublin. For singaporeans such as yourself you have an advantage because of the high exchange rates. And wat do u mean no russia schools are viable?
