incoming 1st year med student needs help

    Advertisements

    hi there!

anyone here going to fatima? i finished my premed last year in UST but it was just a week after the registration deadline that i decided to "beg" the CEM people to give me a chance to take the NMAT coz i dont wanna waste another year!

fortunately, i was able to take the exam and got a good score! but unfortunately, because the decision was so untimely... the application for most of the "good schools" were closed already. my choices: fatima or st. lukes. Although FEU is still open, it would be a no-no for my parents because of the location.

My bet would be fatima for now, am i making the right decision? i don't want to be miserable because of a wrong decision. 4 years of med school is very long!

    Any thoughts are welcome! thanks!

Anyway, i enjoyed reading the posts here!

i suggest you look up on the latest physicians board exam results (try the august results- the more confident students tend to take the august boards). perhaps this will somehow give you an idea on the performance of medical schools.

If FEU is really not an option, I would prefer St. Luke's to Fatima. Better local board performance with better facilities.

brook, i looked it up as u said but the ones included in the top ten are just impossible for me to get in thanks anyway!

trauma, i've read a few of ur past posts (was it u or ethanhunter?) but it was dated a year ago or two... i was actually hoping there had been improvements already on the reputation of fatima. Thanks also for clarifying that st lukes is capable of producing good med grads considering their new. I used to think that old wine tastes better.

St. Luke's could be considered for top ten in local board performance. In the end, it does not matter as med school is what you make of it. If you study hard and work hard, it does not matter what school you come from. According to Fatima alumni, in Fatima they give you A LOT or series of tests/exams before you graduate and pre-boards. They are also encouraged to take their boards in February so they will be more prepared. Both school will prepare you to be a good doctor.

    Which school to go to?

DO NOT GO TO ST. LUKE'S. It's better to go to Fatima than St. Lukes. If u have questions just email me. Take care and good luck!

Hey brook, I am not sure why there are so many bad reviews but I am thinking about going t Fatima in September. The school is accredited as it needs to be in every way way to get back and practice in the states. Thats all I care about.

For locals (Filipinos), St. Luke's is better in terms of preparation for the local boards and LOCAL reputation. For those from overseas (like the US), I suggest Fatima as they are more friendly to foreign grads.
