incoming 1st year med student needs help

    hi there!

anyone here going to fatima? i finished my premed last year in UST but it was just a week after the registration deadline that i decided to "beg" the CEM people to give me a chance to take the NMAT coz i dont wanna waste another year!

fortunately, i was able to take the exam and got a good score! but unfortunately, because the decision was so untimely... the application for most of the "good schools" were closed already. my choices: fatima or st. lukes. Although FEU is still open, it would be a no-no for my parents because of the location.

My bet would be fatima for now, am i making the right decision? i don't want to be miserable because of a wrong decision. 4 years of med school is very long!

    Any thoughts are welcome! thanks!

Anyway, i enjoyed reading the posts here!

    Dear Jzak,

I had an interview at Fatima prior to going to UST. I was very disappointed with Dr. Enriquez the VP, she was very arrogant and ignorant. From what most of Filam who go to Fatima tell me, the biggest problem at Fatima is the Admin. It's run by Santos' family members only, so everything has to go through them. And they are not the most reasonable people on earth. There are plenty of post on Fatima, if you do some reseach you will get a good idea about the school. My only recommedation is for you to go there yourself and talk to the current student/the admin to see both side of the stories. Gud luck

    questions about NMAT

    Hi,

I have no clue what topics are covered for the NMAT. Is it like the MCAT? Also, does anyone know anything about the new Ateneo de Manila School of Medicine in Makati? Are there a lot of students enrolled as freshmen this 2007? Thanks so much!

Based on a reviewer, here's the coverage.
    Coverage:
    Verbal Analogies
    Reading Comprehension
    Inductive Reasoning
    Quantitative Ability
    Perceptual Acuity
    Biology
    Physics
    Chemistry
    Social Science

You can also read the thread on filipino medical schools and they discussed specific topics where they are not confident. Some worry about the social sciences. Most would say the exam is easy. But this is relative as you are competing with your batch of examinees (curved test). If you want to get into competitive school like UST, you need to score well (in the 80's). Other schools usually accept between 55-65. Some don't look at your NMAT score and look at your grades.
