Please note that we've recently been informed by Kaplan about several posts located on this site which violate Copyright Laws. As a reminder, the sales of any copywritten material without the permission of the owner of the copyrights is illegal and absolutely not permitted on ValueMD. In a cooperative effort with Kaplan, we're removing (stored in our database) any such posts and issuing official warnings to the account holders. We also reserve the right to report any identifying information from these accounts to the proper authorities.

In Kaplan's words,

All Kaplan USMLE preparation slides, lecture notes, "Qbank" questions, etc. in connection with the Kaplan USMLE preparation courses.

This includes the sales of Kaplan notes which you may have legally purchased from Kaplan. It also includes the reproduction of any Kaplan material in the form of photocopies, CDs, mp3 files, etc. If you have any questions regarding these laws, please contact Kaplan directly. If you're interested in obtaining any Kaplan material, we suggest purchasing them legally via their website.

Please realize that Copyright Infringement is a very serious issue. This site is not only monitored by our Moderators, but also by outside parties such as Kaplan, Inc. and other authorities. ValueMD is committed to working with these authorities to ensure the enforcement of the laws, as well as the rules of this site.

Even though I haven't had a lot of time to look at the posts recently, I would guess if the posts were searched and truly read, they wouldn't be in the context of copyright violations.

Every time we type Dr. Kaplan's name, it pops up in red (or blue).

Maybe the clinical dean should claim the exclusive right to the use of the name, he may have been around longer!

I believe the incident that prompted this announcement involved an actual violation intent. The warning was appropriate.
