I know both Canadian and American MDs are well reputed, but does the entire formation is comparable?
I know nothing about the med courses in Canada, but it seems to me the formation is much more clinical than scientific.
I'm not sure if they really have the same scientific knowledge (I may be wrong). And talking with a few canadian FPs (residents) they seem overwhelmed by a ton of protocols and guidelines dictated by the government (don't try to argue with a canadian MD or student, you better to argue with a sect member).
They don't have to pass the USMLE - of course (among other things).

There are plenty of differences, yeah, but the cultural divide is mighty broad no matter where you meet foreign docs. (This is one of the reasons for the Step 2CS, actually... you cannot have smart doctors who treat their patients like cattle -- which happens in some countries -- trying to tackle health care in the US.)
