Hello Guys i was accepted to AUA for AuG 2016.
I have filled out my FAFSA, i only qualify for 20.5k a year.
I did some calculations, I found that i need atleast 25k for the first semester, and 23-25k the second semester.
I have been calling and sending emails to AUA for what other lender that i can go to finance my education, they have not been replying to me. i just called in today, and they are closed.

So my question is to all the students Attending this fall, how are you financing your education and what lenders are you going through to pay for your education. Because if i am only able to get 20.5k, then i wont be studying medicine in this school.

Desmond... You are correct that you are only allowed 20.5K per year of unsubsidized which is 1% origination fee and 5.8% interest rate. But you can also apply for federal Grad plus loans for the rest which is a 4% fee and 6.9% interest rate. All expenses will be covered and you will be in debt up to your eyeballs like the rest of the medical students today. LOL welcome to med school. AUA financial aid can talk to you about it tomorrow but it sometimes may take a few calls to get them on the phone. Plus you could have looked on the AUA website in the financial aid page I think its all stated there.

Hello, the grad plus application wont be available till the Oct of this year, so how do we pay for the school, are the AUA students able to apply to sallie mae and other private lenders??

Umm I am not sure what you mean about the application not being ready until october... I am a student currently on loans and have received grad plus for AUA recently so I know they are available. The loans often take a while to process which can be a bit of a burden for your first months rent and living expenses, so know that going in a plan accordingly. I am not and do not claim to be an expert on the loans nor know much about private lenders or sallie mae, but all I can speak of is my previous experience with the AUA loans and their terms. If you have any other questions post them here and ill try be best to help.

I'm so sorry you hadn't received a reply in a timely manner. The best number to reach financial aid is 212-661-8899 Option 4 and [email protected] Thank you for sending along the screen shot showing the error when trying to apply now for the Grad Plus, I've asked one of the financial aid managers to check into it and get a response to you. Typically students do not wait to apply; it could be a form error. Thanks for alerting us to what you are seeing.

Can you finance your education at AUA through 529 plan?
