Hey,
I need advise regarding clinical rotations. I am part of the august 2012 batch, I passed the kaplan comp shelf the first time around but it was scratched off because some low life losers cheated on it - 20 of us passed it the first time but still had to retake it. No one from my class managed to pass the retake kaplan comp shelfs which were harder than the first two for the obvious cheating bust.

Me and my friends still have to take the nbme back home and from what I've heard from the august 2011 class, not many passed the nbme comp shelf with a passing score of 72. I am just worried of getting dismissed - AUA just gives a couple months to pass nbme within certain number of attempts.

I just wish AUA would just kick out those who cheated and ruined it for all of us. I am also worried about clinical start date/end date.

I lost hope of this school.

Hey I am in your class. I have left the island and am preparing for nbme comprehensive exam. I don't think we have choice but to pass it.

Im in your batch as well. There was no cheating... Relax!!! The exam was found online, like so many other qbanks. The school did the right thing by voiding the exam. I'm sure you do not want to be associated with a leaked comp. BTW, 60+ ppl passed the final Kaplan comp. In fact, I know at least 4 ppl who have already taken Step. One has not only passed, but rocked it (As of Nov 2014). I have no idea what part of your deep, internal cervices of your large bowel you are pulling these false information from. But they are not true. I did not pass the Kaplan comp as well and I am studying for NBME. Please refrain from putting out false information just because you are disgruntled. There are many points of contention you could have griped constructively, instead you waste your time & mine to post false allegation.

phoenix ascension - I am not sure why I would be disgruntled. I scored well above 72 on my first kaplan comprehensive shelf which is equivalent to >240 on the USMLE Step 1. I am not even sure if you are a student at AUA. The 3rd comp for kaplan was written at the end of september - given the time lines, it takes a couple weeks to register at a US prometric center sending them all your academic info from basic sci + comp shelf scores. You said you knew 4 people who passed Step 1 as of November so according to you they took the STEP in October so you are telling me that those 4 students passed Comp Shelf at the end of september got registered to take STEP within a couple days, flew back home from antigua and wrote STEP - all within a week. I am sorry but keep your mouth shut!

If you are really a student at AUA - great. Many students post constructive threads here so our school gets better. It has gotten better slowly - One prof got busted for sleeping with students and got fired. We have a new dean who is fighting against odds and striving for better education.

Your facts are wrong. You are telling half truths & you are either misreading or miss quoting me. I said 4 people have TAKEN Step. One person already has results. The professor in question was fired in med 2. The class average for the comp that YOU got a 72 on was a 64. That is because most everyone used the Kaplan Qbanks to study for 2 semesters. If you studied the right way, you had a good chance of passing. In fact, 20 people didn't pass the first comp, it was 40+. You are disgruntled because I've noticed that you have posted 12 different post on ValueMD trying to disparage AUA. Obviously, that is a good use of your time preparing for a comp that you are so concerned about. AUA was no cake walk for any of us. But if you put in the time & work, you were able to make it out of there alive & prepared for Step. Like I said, I did not pass the comp either. But I do have friends & colleagues that did. I will be damned if I let anyone take that away from them.
I question your your maturity in a hospital setting. I question your maturity in the presence of patients.
Prove me wrong, stop posting exaggerations & half truths, go study, pass this comp.

Thankyou! These people just know how to complain and point fingers and blame for their own shortcomings.

4 people out of the original 476 students have taken the Step in a timely manner...kudos to AUA!!

Students did pass the final Kaplan comp, not sure if it was 60+ though. Seems a bit high.

You ppl are funny... Especially the author of these libelous posts. you make it sound as if 476 Albert Scweitzers had entered AUA. There is a reason that the attrition rate at all Caribbean Med Schools are so hi. Ppl come in with the expectation of doing medical school on their own terms, hence the term, "Club Med." In fact, many of the success stories out of AUA are those that had already failed out of one Carib program only to come to AUA and get serious about their studies. But then there are still others that insist of doing things their own way. You guys are bunch of cry babies.

Phoenix Ascension - I just don't agree with you calling your fellow peers "crybabies." No one here has pointed fingers at their peers or cried about their peers who did well but at the credibility of the professors from India and their select students. I don't care if profs want to sleep around with students, I don't care if profs leak out exams to students. But the problem comes when N. and his faculty from Manipal protect themselves and their select students by coming up with whack theories that students somehow hacked into the NBME test center and had access to these exams - when infact they are clearly covering themselves up for their own crimes of leaking out exams or informing select students of questions. I agree that Dr. M voiding the kaplan exam and firing the ICM prof who slept around is a HUGE step forward but I feel that he is fighting against all odds and we as students need to work together along with him rather than calling each other "cry babies" just for raising real issues.
