Has St Chris ever enforced the rule that you must pass step one to start rotations or get into basic sciences??? They were saying that this would take into effect march 2002..

Yes, it is now mandatory to have Step 1 completed before we can start Clinical rotations.

It depends on the hospital. Some hospitals require it while others do not.

I think that the standard of out school would be higher and the residency match rate would be greater if passing step one was highly enforced.

That would make the school more appealing to residency programs and medical state boards.

It would also help the reputation of the school amoung the students of other schools.

If they make a rule like that meaning passing step 1 they should not make any exceptions..

The rule was just recently changed.

From now on, anyone who finishes the basic sciences must pass step 1 before they can start the clinical program. This is not a retroactive rule, so anyone who has already begun the clinical program may continue with the old rules that were based on each hospitals individual requirement. Anyone who has not already begun clinicals must adhere to this rule. I agree with graduate in the thinking that this is a positive step.

Also, no students may transfer into the clinical program from another medical school without having passed step 1.

Hope that helps
