View Full Version : Bottled water during Skype interview?

Probably a silly question but I was wondering if it weird or rude to have a bottled water with me during my Skype interview. My mouth tends to get dry and I start having a hard time speaking. Thanks.

Dude they probably won't care. It's a carribbean med school for god's sake. I had friends who interviewed at Ross wearing a t shirt and shorts (in person interview) and got in. Just chill.

To be honest, I would say that you should treat it like you would any professional interview. There is no reason for you to show up to an interview not looking your best. Humans get thirsty, it happens. Especially over long periods of time.
If you can manage a 30 minute interview without water, I'd say lose it though.

Try not to use a straw or one of those sport tops. In fact, if you can pour it into a coffee mug or glass that might make it more professional. But sipping water during the interview is fine. I agree with Tipton, stay professional. The color of your tie will not be crux of your successful application but it's always best to present yourself as capable in a professional situation.

The best thing you can do to prepare is to make sure you have a good internet connection and that your Skype (with sound and video) are working.
Good luck!

I smoked a couple cigarettes and paced around my backyard during my phone interview. (Yes, I have since quit)

I think it's fine if you keep it to 16 oz. No more. No less.

Thanks folks. The interview was approximately 1.5 hours long. The interviewer didn't seem to mind that I had a water bottle. He didn't really look at me much anyway.
