Hello Guys,

I was looking online at various medical schools in Hungary and Poland. It does not specify what GPA needs to be, specifically I would like to know what GPA requirements are for a Canadian undergrad holding a 3 year Bachelor in Biology degree. Medical University of Warsaw, Medical University of Pecs, Semmelweis, and Poznan they dont tell you anything with regards to this only application procedure and other required documents needed to apply. Thanks any help is appreciated. :)

Can you sign a check? if so you are qualified. I have three friends who went to Poland, they were totally unprepared for the USMLE. As a matter of fact they have wasted the past 2 years preparing and re-learning or should I say learning everything for step 1. I think that makes it an 8 year program.

Doing a bit of research online, I found out that some people have not had the best experience with hungarian and polish medical school , but having said that they still give you the opportunity to pursue a career in medicine whereas in North America competition is very fierce and its very tough to get in nowdays. New guy, I see that you're friends might not have the best experience with Polish schools, But to the contrary I've also heard and read about other people success stories who have managed to pass step 1 and get residencies in the states, uk and canada. But isnt preperaing for USMLE something that's done along with completing an MD degree. I'm not sure for one I'm still investigating and trying to get a better insight of what possible future these schools offer to their graduates and the residency rates. lol off-course signing a check is not a problem, but again there must be some sort of GPA cut-off requirements etc. etc. :)

So why not attend a medical school with the focus on the USMLE?????????/

I go to school in Poland (Krakow). I did great on the USMLE, and am soon starting a residency in the USA. Im not sure who "New guy" is, but he seems to have an vendetta of some kind. His information about the only entrance requirement being writing a check is inaccurate. The schools in Poland generally look at MCAT more than USMLE. For instance, Krakow requires a 25 to apply. Meaning if you get a 24, you're application will immediately be in the garbage. The student body generally has MCATs in the high twenties (27, 28, 29, etc.) GPA changes between countries and schools, so they put far more weight behind your MCAT

@ dtm1114, Good to hear you did well on the USMLE, yes i've done research Warsaw does not require an MCAT but other schools like, Krakow, poznan, lodz, and jag require mcat. Im aiming for anything 26 or over on the MCAT, but dont know how that will be possible as I write the exam on May 23. and I'm still tied up with my university exam atm. But thanks for the insight again your information is of great value, nice to know there are people out with a more positive attitude towards polish md schools. Best of luck with residency, cheers!
