So I took the entrance exam a while ago, and got accepted and now I am trying to figure out if I should start there or not. The first thought I have was concerning the difficulty of the entrance exam, it was very easy and we had 2 hours to complete it but I was easily done in less than a quarter of that time. This makes me wonder how many gets accepted and if there are any number on how many fails to complete the entire 6 year program?

Basically what I am looking for is if there is any institution or objective third party that assess the quality of the education/professors at the 1st faculty? So far all I find is either forum posts or their own page. Would really like a trustworthy source if it exists.

Congratulations on your acceptance at Charles University. I strongly advise you to study medicine in the country you want to practice in.

I'm surprised you found it easy. I'm not sure if they have changed the entrance exam this year but I took it last year in Prague on 15th June 2011 and only 16 out of 71 students got accepted.

According to their webpage they accept 120 students per year in General Medicine. Obviously the exact figure could be a little more or a little less (I think a little more is more probable).

Based on the post of other student here usually only around 30-40 students graduate each year. There is a big drop-out rate at the three Charles Universities medical faculties in Prague. The reasons for this have been discussed to death in these forums but in my opinion it is mostly because students are not ready for the commitment of medical school or not suitable themselves for medical school. Additionally, many students transfer to other universities in CZ or elsewhere in Europe.

Another thing I should mention about studying medicine in CZ is that the difficult part is not getting in but rather staying in. It has been said in posts before on here that the some professors usually do not consider you to be a medical student until you have gained entry to 2nd or 3rd year.

No, and there never will be information like this available. It's almost impossible to access the teaching quality of a school. On the internet you'll be able to find rankings of Universities but this has a weak correlation with teaching ability of the University. The problem with ALL universities is that professors are mostly there for research and NOT teaching. A top university researcher can be a terrible teacher (and usually are) and likewise an average researcher can be a top teacher. This is why the university ranking system doesn't mean that much.

I suppose the good thing about Charles is they have a fairly good reputation in Europe. As you can see from the high-drop out rate their not just willing to pass students to get more money for the university. This is a good sign in my opinion.
