Comenius is so full for corruption it makes me sick. I am not going to post what I know but I would suggest anyone that is going to study there do their research first.

I complain about Comenius all the time, but when I read this I immediately want to jump online and defend the university. All I can say for sure about corruption is that one anatomy professor no longer examines after being caught taking a bribe. I am sure it still goes on, which makes me sick, but I don't think Comenius is special. I am convinced it goes on at most EEU universities. The sooner any student comes to terms with that reality, the better.

Oh, and more on topic: the entrance exam is a complete joke. You need 50% on both sections. T/F test, one point for a correct answer, zero for a wrong one. If you choose your answers by flipping a coin, you should get 50%.

Tris, I am afraid you are wrong, firstly I can tell you for a fact that this does not happen in Prague. I know a student that tried to offer money a couple of years ago to a professor, lets just say it did not go down well and he no longer study at our school.

Comenius on the other hand, I have close friends that study there and I know exactly what goes on. There is basically a price list for the exams. Tris you may be not be involved in such activity but have you never wondered how some of the Greek students in your class that appear to do no work and some how pass all the exams at the last minuet? or have you never asked your self how your teacher who make under 1000 euro per month drive 50 000 euro cars?

The corruption in your school goes right to the core and even involves a criminal outside of your school. Its very sad but this is how it is.

Actually they have negative marking in the entrance exam. Plus the possibility that there are 4 true answers or no true answers or a mix of true and false answers for all 200 questions.

Also, I really think that if you do not attend a university and have no experience of it apart from hear say- you really shouldn't be going on a rant.

Corruption happens everywhere in the world, you are going to have to deal with it in your career and moaning about it will do nothing. If someone bribes their way through medical school, when they come to practicing medicine their poor knowledge and skill will show through, worry about yourself and your own future.

Yes the world if full of corruption but come on you can't sit here and say that it happens all over the world so its ok to turn out doctors who do not know their *** from their elbow.

Yes when these students come to practice it will cause them problems but it gives the rest of us from good schools in this part of the world who do not take part in such pratices a bad name. They are also putting lives at risk.

I know far more than hear say, I can give names of student, examiners, agents and even the amount they have paid. It makes my blood boil and I hope it will stop one day, my local slovak friends also feel very strongly about this subject.

ctbs- yeah I saw they posted the scores online. What a crazy development. I can assure you that many in my year didn't get better than 50% in that style of marking. Or put another way - everyone I took the exam with was present on day one of classes.

I agree with LF1Student on corruption, just because it goes on everywhere doesn't make it somehow acceptable. (and yes LF I can name names too, but most of my knowledge is like yours - via the grapevine). And I stand firmly by contention that it goes on in the Czech republic, but I do think it is worse here. Also, just because these students have bought their way through some classes doesn't mean they'll finish. In fact, it almost seems that most people have problems finishing here. However, there are signs of cleanup. We'll have to wait until September to confirm but I've heard there was quite a purge of 3rd year / 4th year students. We shall see. Maybe this place is improving, I don't know. Whenever I start feeling somewhat positive about the place, I remember the other players...

The agents - they're crazy. You can see them walking around the city like they own the place, I am legitimately afraid of them.

Honestly as much as I hate to say this, what we need more than anything in Bratislava is to become less Greek. There are simply too many of us, and the culture which has brought us here and sustains our dominance of the place is a real problem. It probably is the main problem.

Tris I agree a lot of the issues are because your school is full of greek students and many of them have a very different work ethic.

I do not have many good things to say about the Czech medical school or the staff that teach us however I can tell you for a fact that there is close to no corruption in the Czech medical schools, in the same way there is almost no corruption in the uk medical schools.

I just hope Nova TV or someone like that does an exposť so practices like this will stop.

The agents need to get a good *** kicking!

Just FYI I am Slovak but grew up in the uk.
