Applying to this faculty through an agency....
there have been a lot info on 1st, 3rd faculty but doesn't seem much on Pilsen.
Is it good ? or is better to applying other faculties and not bother to apply for Pilsen?

What I mean is the teaching similar to the others?
of course 1st faculty being the top out of the rest has its reason but is Pilsen faculty has high standard too?

Checkout the table in the link below. It is a ranking of the Czech medical universities from last year:

So i guess is bad...but being the last one does it mean the standard and teaching is bad?

v2k91, for months I am here around, personally I have never heard a voice about the faculty of Pilsen.. in my country, there are some high quality schools, you can see them all the time around, their websites have English versions, you can see, hear them.. and some others that we, the natives, even dont know :D .. when you have a close look at them, you see that they dont have this, this, this and this, in comparison with high quality ones.. so maybe to pick the quality ones (Charles 1st Faculty, for instance), to see their offers, websites, teaching hospitals, circulating patient numbers (important for clinical experience), the curricular programs etc etc etc.. and later to check the same points in Pilsen, may put the big picture before your eyes..

I have had a little research about some of those schools, (only some of them!) and gathered the summaries in this blog: Medical Schools (http://medical-schools.blogspot.com/)
(there are two more schools in the next page of the blog)

They give a rough idea about the quality differences among them.. later you can get similar info from Pilsen's website and make a comparison.. this tells a lot about their quality, I think.

No the standard and teaching are quite good in all the Charles Faculties' of Medicine. You must also take in account that the rankings used by HN don't really measure the academic curricula/teaching. They don't take in to account teaching standards, professors' teaching experience, difficulty of curriculum etc. This is more of a generalized ranking as to which school is doing well in terms of graduate surveys, research etc.

They've rated schools on 4 criteria: prospective graduates' interest in school, graduate survey, world-class school and opinion of experts.

They've also included research as a criteria and Masaryk Medical University in Brno ranks the 1st.

The Faculty of Medicine at Pilsen is slightly easier than the other faculties but the quality of education is still pretty good.

Well, just told my agent to apply Masaryk and not Pilsen.
But I am also applying to Charles HK.

Anyone know what is the pass mark for the entrance exams?
they are multiple choice but to be honest I have no idea about Physics.
I am doing distance learning course in Bio and Chem at GCE level......
Is the Physics tough?:|

v2k91 hi, I know only about Charles 1st, 2nd and 3rd Faculties that they all demand Bio+Chem, but Charles 1st diverts from the group about Physics with math option. You either take the exam in Physics or Math. Actually all take place in the summary blog in my previous post.

I believe the entrance exam was more tricky than hard. It was an MCQ test (however, not your usual MCQ tests where only one answer is correct!) As long as your A-level knowledge is sound, you should do just fine.

In case it helps you or someone else, I've been studying at this faculty for five years now. There are few things to consider. First the ranking from that article doesn't have to reflect quality of the university from a student's point of view. The authors don't state clearly their standards, the things they took in consideration while doing this research. I'm aware this faculty might not publish as much as some other faculties. But from what I've heard from my friends at the other faculties, it's pretty much the same at every CU faculty. About the standards here, I wouldn't worry about it much. It's still the CU and you can meet here some true world class doctors and scientists. The article also says rate of unemployment of Pilsen graduates at the time it was written was 0.0%. Naturally you've also got heaps of research possibilities while studying.

Here is some info about the entrance exams and stuff Lkask fakulta UK v Plzni (http://www.lfp.cuni.cz/sekce/123-home.html)

Have fun in Czech Republic

Pilsen is ok but if you manage to get into Prague or Brno they are better universities and also nicer places to live.
