Hi everyone! I was accepted for January of 2012 and was hoping to get to know some of my fellow students before we start our medical careers. I'm from Michigan and looking forward to studying medicine and becoming a doctor.

Hey guys!
I've just been accepted to AUC for january 2012 as well! I am overly excited to start learning and meeting you all. I'm from Windsor, Canada. Is there a facebook group for the entering class that we can all join and keep in contact? Also, are you guys buying your textbooks beforehand or doing anything else to stay prepared? Congrats to you all :)

Hey newbies! Invest in a voice recorder from SONY (rechargable and transferable thru the USB). It will be indispensible for some of you who can't pay full attention in class.

Hey guys,

I'm a first semester at AUC and I have a two bedroom opening up starting Dec. 1st. You do not want to overpay for the dorms when you can live right by the beach with 3 nice pools. Rainbow Beach Club. Two bedroom for $2800 ($1400 a person). email me at alee010 @ gmail.com for more questions.

Hello Upper Classmen, I am considering entering Jan 2013 class but am having a hard time finding information on how clinical's work for the Jan entering class. Do you have to rush after 5th sem and take step 1 in order to make it in time for clinical matches? What if you do choose to take a little extra time to review, do you have to wait an additional year to start clinicals? I'm sure i'm way off but you guys would know, congrats on making it this far, hopefully this thread isn't dead.

To simplify what I'm asking, are clinical spots offered once a year, twice a year, e.c.t.? And what months? Thank you

Clinical rotations start whenever the start dates are for the hospital. You can start clinical rotations at any time during the year, granted there is an open spot. Usually the wait is a few weeks to a month or two. You will not have to wait an entire year to start clinical rotations. However, you will have to wait until after you successfully pass your step 1.

Thanks for the clarification, r u an auc student? I think my best option is to wait see how my DO app's pan out. I am still indecisive on starting jan or may. If I wait till may I'd be able to save a lot more money since I am a trade skilled Journey man iron worker and can make 2k a week easy. Don't know If the extra cash will come in handy but since I figure I will not be working for the next 4 years it would be nice to establish a stock pile of money before embarking on such a Nobel vocation, MD!!
I figure you never know when your going to need some extra cash, flights back to the states, interview cost, engagement stuff ect. I know loans will cover most of that but would feel better if I have some of my own money in the bank.
I've been looking at a lot of schools an If i do have to go Carib AUC would be it for me. thanks for your post.

Yes, I am an AUC student. Loans do cover everything, but it is always nice not to have to rely solely on loans and be able to borrow less, thus having to pay back less in the future.

Good luck with everything.
