hello all, just finished day 2 of the step 3 exam today and I must say this has been the hardest test of them all. Day one was torture and felt like it would never end... looooooooooong questions that give you just enough time to think and answer on the spot, so be ready.

Day 2 questions were the same except for some very straightforward questions and maybe shorter stems... I almost threw the towel after my second block, but i pushed on through because I wanted to get to the ccs part.

The ccs was a breath of fresh air, most were straight forward eventhough I made a few mistakes. Forgot to admit one patient and did all the management in the ER, and totally bombed an xxx case for whatever reason. I blanked out and took very long to order ct scan which was very helpful in pointing out Dx. I managed to finish by the 20 minute mark and did most of the counseling and follow up in the final screen for the orders...

I been visiting this forum since 2005, i had a different username then (which I dont remember) and have been though my entire career while receiving orientation here. I passed all previous steps on first attempt (glory to God) but this time... im almost certain I failed...

So study hard, do lots of questions and follow valuemd'rs advice since they are always head on, I start residency in two weeks so If i fail I will have a second crack at it... I love medicine but this part of it is making me sick, good luck to all and God bless

Wow, you nailed that on the head...I found out I missed it by a few points last week, very disheartened and dreading having to do it...again.
I did study for this exam but I am in intern year so the best advise I can give is if you can do it before residency begins...do it. You don't have the luxury of time once you start and it's tough to do.

It was a very difficult exam and the questions are ridiculously long. Do not buy into the ridiculous myth that this is the easiest one.
I think going through both q banks (kaplan and world) and the ccs cases in world and whatever review book you like best is good but give it enough time.

I hope you passed...I got through thus far without having to repeat any exams so this was a real bummer for me but if you get it done before residency, will be a weight off your shoulders!

Best of luck!
