Hi. I am a Canadian thinking of going applying Debrecen. From what I've gathered from the internet, I know that the program can be taught in English. But my concern is that I cannot speak any Hungarian. Would that be a problem for me if i want to study medicine at Hungary?

I'm not the best person to answer this question coz I don't study in Hungary, but generally,You have to learn the language in the first 2 years.Obviously most students don't speak any Hungarian but the universities teach the language and then,You have to be good enough to talk to medical staff by the time You start doing your rotations etc...It is a hard language(I believe it's the hardest European language),but it's not impossible as well, after 2 years studying the language and living there You'll pick it.

Yes, it would be a problem. The language barrier is quite frustrating and so is the language. This becomes apparent during your 3rd year by the time you start interacting w/ patients.
You will also need to speak a passable Hungarian in order to make things easy for you over here.
Generally, to be able to speak averagely you may need to get a Hungarian girlfriend (or boyfriend...lol) or hang around bars a lot more. Both are very easy to do. :)

What I usually find is that most people under a certain age can speak enough English to understand you. As for learning Hungarian, the words are really easy to learn but the grammar is a nightmare. It is a very fun language to learn too.

Hi . almost all foreign students who come to Hungary for studying, even don't know a single Hungarian word. absolutely it is not a problem for you that you cant speak Hungarian. I really don't know about debrecen , But in Budapest you can easily communicate with every one in English. (in restaurants , Supermarkets , Metro stations & ... ) . In the University , you will also have some Hungarian language courses. mostly for being prepared to communicate with your patients in their own language.
I believe that it is a nice language :) It is about 7 months that I am living in Hungary as a student , and now I can easily communicate with everyone with simple sentences in Hungarian. Hungarians are not used to see foreigners talking in their language (unlike English , German & French speaking countries ) So they will really enjoy when you try to talk with them in Hungarian. :D
