We (me and shuki25) have been confirmed for a 2bdrm lease in Jan 2011 for this apartment.

It was listed as 6592 in the database.
2 bdrm = $800/mo (110v, water, cable, internet, maid)

If you have any info on this location, positive or negative, GREAT! Please post about your experience.

Otherwise, we were almost "defaulted" into living here since the landlord for this building was the most pro-active. She responds promptly to emails, usually the same day. And she notes your phone # and tells u to make sure to have hers.

More impressions after we move in.

M.C. is one of the nicest landladies out of those I've discussed w/ others so far. Our very 1st nite here, she did something rather motherly, and walked us to the store to make sure we got there safely. I just thought it was funny she didn't want two grown men to walk to the store. She responds to phone calls promptly. Every request happens THAT nite (if we call in the afternoon). IDK if it's because we are very welcoming/hospitable to her, but she has offered to buy us things at the Sat AM market that happens in Portsmouth (no one else's landlord has ever offered that). She hangs out in our place when we are here for 10-15 minutes, just to check on how things are, how we are doing, asking what our needs are...again very motherly.

There is a new complex being built right outside my bedroom window so it tends to be really loud from about 8AM - 6PM...and honestly I'd be moving if M.C. wasn't such a nice landlady. It's about 8 mins to Main Campus, and 15 mins to Annex (a big deal for firsties)...HOWEVER there's a shuttle from RUH (only a 3 min walk) so that shouldn't steer you away. This building is on higher ground, and our place is 2nd floor. There's always an ample breeze. We've NEVER used our A/C's...but I suspect perhaps when summer hits we will.

ANYWAYS, here's the good stuff. I'm going to post pix of our apt!

(when it's not raining and when it's tolerably quiet, I pushed a chair on that landing/balcony...pretty awesome to chill or study out there)

Anybody know the average electricity payment a month?

Anybody know the average electricity payment a month?

Elec is pay as you go here...like pre-paid cel

At this place my roomie & I put about $80EC ($8EC = $3US) in every month. We don't use our A/C units (as stated above). Our fridge is on. I microwave about 2 mins/day. And he watches TV like 6 hrs/nite! I have the TV on in the AM to watch news/Sportscenter another hour, so 7 total. Hot water in the shower is electrically heated nozzle. Probably 30 mins of showering total/day and from our loosely scientific testing, it is the biggest drainer of juice!

I think the two 1-bdrm units down stairs are available for next semester, if you are interested. Just search Theophilius in the housing database.

I think unit 1 is unoccupied, but the maids clean it every week none the less. I will PM u contact info since we aren't allowed to post that kind of stuff here. "MC" has a normal job, so if u want to get a hold of her, I'd say call her @ 6PM EST.

I am ending my time at this apartment. Overall it was a good experience.

In a follow up, I got bored cuz I knew the place I was moving to was much smaller than Theo Elizee apt, so I calculated the square footage of this place. There is ~382.5 ft^2 here. If you add the 2nd bedroom (since I lived in the ONLY 2 bdrm) it balloons to 558.5 ft^2

I know the landlady will deal w/ anyone interested in the 2 bdrm who doesn't have a roommate. Like +$100-200 I believe. So you may end up, as a single tenant in this 2 bdrm place paying around $1/sq ft. To put that into perspective, I am moving to Hubert Corbette into ~258 ft^2 and paying almost $2/sq ft

This IS ideal for a 1st semester and 2nd semester. It's a 10 minute walk to main campus...it just gets a lil muddy when it rains because there's 2-300yds or so of unpaved path to walk on. This is the reason I am moving. It is just too cumbersome to walk w/ clothes and shoes for clinicals, and as a future 3rd, I couldn't deal w/ the hassle.

1st's you can definitely get away w/ clean scrubs to clinical things. 2nds there's 2 Standardized Patient interviews that require the white coat and professional dress.

If you read this post, and are interested, PM me and I'll give you contact info for M.C. She informed me that the apt is vacant for Sept 2011, so MERP'ers or incoming 1st's for Jan 2012...you know what to do!

Good luck!
