I was also looking at unibe spanish school (not interested in the english school since everyone i know there tells me it sucks) and pucmm. Please help me decide.

Those 3 are the best schools overthere, regarding teaching. So, whichever one u pick ull be fine. I think what probably gonna make u decide , one is location (where do u wanna live?... santiago o la capital?) two tuition, I believe Unibe is the most expensive one. Eventhough there is financial aid for all 3 schools, its not a good idea to owe alot of money, medical school can become really pricey. And if ur gonna pay it out of ur pocket still why paid more?, all 3 schools are good, try to get the one that is better priced. And finally, u gotta see if the school that u choose (if ur planning to practice in the states) has approval of the state where u wanna practice.

Oh one thing that for me was important, was that Unibe had better hospitals for el pre internado and internado (which is the last year). Our rooms (Unibe) where u sleep when u have to do ur servicio (which is a 24hrs + shift) where the best ones with a/c new beds , there was a maid that would clean the room everyday, we had a frige and lockers, all the other medical schools wanted to be in our room, because after they make u work like hell ull wanna crash in a nice room BELIEVE ME.

UASD, Intec and other schools , there internado room was a piece of crap, really old stinky beds, no a/c , small and very crowded....it was bad for them.

If u have any question u can msg me.

thanks for the response... I will check out the schools more in detail when i go to DR. Do you (or anyone else) know anyone who is currently in Intec and if so what they say about the teachers. I do know medical school is a lot of studying but i am an auditory learner and it would be a good help to have good teachers.

Yes thats a Good Idea go check out the schools for yourself, remember ur gonna be living there for many years, make sure ur comfortable with the school u pick. Well I met students from intec in the hospital, and they seemed to be well prepared. The thing is that in some hospitals u get to work with other students from other universities, and u can see their level of knowledge (get asked questions by attending and residents). Also to be honest it really depends on urself. Some students will tell u that school XYZ is the worst or that the profs dont teach and others will tell u that its the best school in the world. There have been students that transferred from intec to unibe and vice versa. The only advice I can give u is study hard from day one, it looks like a long road but trust me its not, when u realize it ull be done. And ur hard work will pay off. If u like Intec go for it its a very good school, and they offer scholarships depending on ur gpa.

Good luck on ur selection! :peace:

Mixmasta offers good advice. Since you are Dominican, you may want to stick to the spanish section. I am not saying that because of the quality of the teaching. I am saying that because the english sections are reserved for foreigners, and the schools will make you pay 3 times more than the Dominicans. I am speaking for UNIBE, but I'm pretty sure INTEC works the same way.

INTEC offers in English too? or only Unibe? who else offers in English and have Finantial Aid from the States?
