I have recently grown an interest in this school. Does anyone have any first hand experiences with the level of education, the school, the country? Is anyone here a current/former student of this school? Any insight is greatly appreciated

Ok first of all i from Houston.... and straight i out of highschool i went to UCIMED in costa rica i did 2 years of my school there and my experience from that was a total disaster.... there mentality is if there is not to many spots for hospitals to rotate in, then they have to start failing people...(i have a sister that has grad from there and most of her graduating class keep telling people not to go there)

SO i ended up leaving UCIMED and started going to UNIBE.... my experince with Unibe has been "better" i mean cmon i have seen alot a answers on this thread and people are so funny.... ITS A THIRD WORLD country people it doesnt matter if you go to mexico, dr, india etc.. this countries are DIFFERENT than what we are use to back home.....Most americans just dont get that in there HEADS.....

I saw a thread earlier that said that UNIBE was a cheating villa... UM that really depends if you want to cheat really... and from my experience most "upper courses" are all fill in the blank exams so its hard to cheat on those dont you think....

Also NO they dont have english program.... LEARN SPANISH period i have seen alot of americans that put the effort on doing so...

Also i have met alot of friends that graduated and ended taking the USMLE and matched good specialties....

WE DONT HAVE TO DO INTERNSHIP IN COSTA RICA they give you a diploma before so you can do your internship back home

All in all, USMLE score are irrelative for the size of the university.... it all depends on the time and effort you put it to... and ultimately it will prepare you for general medicine but not for the boards.... NOTHING prepares you for the broads unless you take KAPLAN or you studying at a university back home....(ITS ALL PAIN AND SWEAT on your part) i mean cmon most doctors in texas are INDIAN and i am sure they dont offer USMLE courses in india.......lol

Remember this is COSTA RICA they dont care if your are gonna take the boards or not.... everything back home has different prosiduresdures that only school in the states will show you...

i hope that helps!!

I am brand new to this forum so I cannot PM you but would you be willing to exchange some emails and share some insights into the school that you have received from upper level students?
