Hello everyone...I'm new here and I was looking into SMU among other schools. Does this school require an MCAT for admission? I cannot really find a solid answer on this. Thank you in advance for all your help.

officially yes. Do you need a certain score, probably not.

I know when I had inquired last year, they had told me no. Did this change happen recently?

They dont ask for a typical score or go by an average score. They require it but it is used as a formality IMO. If they dont use as a formality, then they probably use it as a means to maybe prove if a candidate could handle medical studies. For instance, if someone with a bad GPA applies, then they probably require a
decent MCAT. If a person has a good GPA, then they probably would just need you to submit an MCAT score for the sake of submitting an MCAT score.

Those are probably the possiblities, but its probably best to call them and see what they say.

They are more interested in your credit score than MCAT score.

The only thing you need is the money, so if you have it you are in. If you don't and need to qualify for loans, then you should have a regular MCAT

anything below 4s on each section and you may have to worry, otherwise you are set as long as you have about a 2.0gpa to go with it..good luck

I heard they now won't entertain any applications below 30.

Before I give anyone an anxiety attack, I'm only kidding.

lol
somebody might take that seriously lol
but do you guys think, for the students there right now, that a 2.5 gpa and a 17 mcat score is decent?
Let me ask this questions another way...
with these stats, would a student be denied right away, or will they consider it and MAYBE have a shot?

If you have the money your MCAT score can be around 5 and your GPA 0.05.. but no lower! They want to keep good standards because California is comming
