Hello
I am having a little trouble about applying to medical school. I graduated from a university in New Jersey in JAn. 2009.
My gpa cumulative is 3.0- I have had a few bad grades and I have retaken a few science courses.
University gpa: 2.72
Community College 1 gpa: 3.61
Community college 2 gpa: 3.66
I have not taken the MCATs yet.

I have plenty of volunteering hours and I have worked in a hospital my four years as an undergrad.

Should I bother applying to medical school yet or should I wait and take more classes to bring my gpa up?

MCAT is KING. The MCAT can get you in anywhere even with poor grades. Until then, don't do anything.

No MCAT = NO BIG 4 = NO SGU/ROSS/AUC/SABA
you will get in to the none big 4 for sure --> SMU,SJSM,AUA,MUA....
Suggestion: Take MCAT! other than big 4 will make your life much harder!

Take some "easier" courses at University / college to boost your GPA then take the MCAT, and re-apply.

If not the big 4, then consider some good schools with solid track record, i.e. over 10 years History....some states will require that....Hx on ValueMD showed us at least 5 schools that opened promised the world then closed in few years...

If becoming an MD is your calling, then go after it !!

My vote: Study for the MCAT rigorously, ace it and apply to the big 4. U.S. is out of the question with those stats.

If you have extra 150K to burn, I say go ahead.

Think twice long and hard before you apply to any offshore MD program. You might end up with huge loans and wasted 4 years of your life...happens all the time !!!

With All Saints you can't work in every state of US when you graduate, but the tuition is low. You don''t have a gated campus but a very simple school. Tuition is less then 25,000 for the first 5 semester so if you discover this isn't your cup of tea.....well......
Because the school is small it is more personal and if you work hard and still struggle they will work with you. I am just finishing MD 5, overall good educational experience, for modest tuition.
Hope this helps
