Hi, I am writing this lab report for a colorimeter experiment we did. Basically we took 5 tubes
1. 10ml distilled water
2. .10 ml of 50 mg/dl glucose standard
3. .10ml of 100 mg/dl glucose standard
4. 10 ml of 200 mg/dl glucose standard
5. 10ml of an unknown plasma

We calculated the absorbance V.s. concentration and plotted it on a graph. The question is as follows

Why do you always draw a linear standard curve (absorbance VS. Concentration) even though your experimental values may deviate slightly from a straight line?? Why must the standard curve intersect the origin (zero concentration=zero absorbance)?

Thanks
