I've got kind of a tough choice going on right now. Basically I'm deciding whether to study in the Czech Republic or Poland. I'm going for a 6 year program since I don't want to bite off more than I can chew.

Now here's the main catch: I speak Polish perfectly, but the thing is that after Polish med school you've got a 13 month residency + the time it takes you to pass the LEP exam. in the Czech republic on the other hand the last year of the 6 year program is a residency during which you pass the state exams.

So the question is should I go through the trouble of learning Czech to potentially save well over a year of time. The languages are similar so I'll have a significant advantage in picking up the language, but i still seems daunting. I've never had to function in a society where I can't understand a word. I'm bashing my head against the wall. There is also the financial incentive that the university in the Czech republic is 2000 Euro cheaper/year.

It's basically Gdansk Warsaw or Poznan vs Masaryk university in Brno
Prague is too expensive. Krakow is out (complicated story)
