lottery system is still in affect for 5th semester placement. Med 4 had their lottery today and i believe miami has increased their spots to over a hundred(120 i believe), new york has 12 and michigan has 22. doesn't matter if your from new york or hawaii, they put the names and choices in a box and draw them out...anyone who put miami as their first choice got it, and they did the lottery for people who put down michigan and new york. so no preference if your from new york, we don't have puerto rico and i believe we lost baltimore as a 5th semester site

There are 15 spots in NY and 18 in Michigan. We did not lose Baltimore per say but it was not up to AUA's standards since students are not allowed to touch patients. So AUA said it was not a good option for students.

They will not be up and running for the Sept. '08 5th semester class. They may or may not be for the Jan '09 class.
