View Full Version : I kept running out of time.

I passed.
Even though I didn't finish most of the cases.
I talk too slow.

I took the Kaplan 1 week CS course. It helped alot.
Mostly they showed all the 101 things to worry about which I never would have realized if I just studied a book.
Also it showed how slow I am.

So I adjusted my strategy. Since the communication score was much more heavily weighted than the physical exam score, I decided to sacrifice the physical exam in favor of the interview.

I made sure to do an exhaustive HPI not missing any SIQORAAAPAMHITFOSS and hitting every corner of politeness, pleasantries, smalltalk.

Then, I would do only one system in the physical exam. i.e. if the cc was cough, then do only lung. If chest pain then only cardiovascular.

That way I gain 2pts in communication for every 1pt lost from physical.
I hope then that would leave enough time for closing and counseling.

But I still ran out of time! I was able to close only 3 or 4 of the cases.
Apparantly closing is not worth many points because I passed anyway.

took it in houston

One notable case, a lady cc stress incontinence
but when I asked if there were any complications during her NVD she said none.
During closing I said a common cause of stress incontinence in women her age was an episiotomy. And she said oh yeah, she did have one of those.

So I guess we're supposed to have asked for such things specificially.
