Why is left varicocele most often? It's because the sigmoid colon or because left testicular vein empties into left renal vein? And why?

Idiopathic varicoceles are more common on the left, where the right angled entry of the left spermatic vein into the relatively horizontal left renal vein, leads to a greater incidence of varicocles. (E-medicine)

The right spermatic vein enters obliquely into the inferior vena cava and is somewhat protected anatomically. (E-medicine)

    Varicocele

Lt,varicocele is more common probablt due to the fact that the Lt.testicular vein drains into the Lt.renal at almost 90 degrees and Lt.renal V is a high pressure system compared with inferior vena cava into which the Rt.testicular vein drains into. Also the sigmoid/pelvic colon may compress upon the Lt.testicular V >>>

how to explain varicocele to a patient with some education

    well sir":

This is essentially the same process as varicose veins, which are common in the legs. This results in backflow of blood into the pampiniform plexus and causes increased pressures, ultimately leading to damage to the testicular tissue.
