An accident resulting in transection of the structure identified here (small round white area in middle lower area) will most likely be manifested by:
    1. peritonitis
    2. pitting edema
    3. paraplegia
    4. callus formation
    5. hemoperitoneum

Answer #3: paraplegia, why? This is the thoracic spinal cord, and transection will prevent transmission of motor impulses distal from the site of injury, leading to paraplegia with inability to move the legs.
