QUESTIONS FOR CURRENT AND PAST STUDENTS????

    Advertisements

I was just rejected from Ross and accepted into their medprep program. I had a 3.2 science GPA from the University of Oklahoma and was told by the Ross advisors that I would almost certainly get in. So much for that..

Anyhow, here is why I am writing: I have several questions. I usually make a habit of ignoring new med schools like the plague, but I had a chance to speak with Ken Thompson (I think that is his name), the admissions counselor, and was really impressed.

Here are my questions to current and past students:

    1. Did everyone who graduated really get a residence spot?

    2. Has the school resolved their financial aid problems. When I last spoke to the school, you had to not only have good credit but also a cosigner. Or if a person had bad credit, they could not go even with a cosigner with good credit. Have they changed this? They told me that they were changing it.

    3. How safe is the island? How are the living conditions?

    4. How did residency directors treat the students once they got back to the states and applied for positions?

    5. How much total debt did your medical education costs?

    6. What was the drop out rate?

The answers are greatly appreciated. I'm a natural born skeptic, so I have to research this school before applying. However, your answers would be greatly received by one who is going through the same process that many of you experienced.

    OU

I'm from OU as well. I just got here in Sept, so I can't really answer alot of your questions b/c since I haven't been here that long. As for the loans, they're not with the school but with a private lender. If you have good credit, you'll be ok, but if you have bad credit you'll need a cosigner for the alternative loan. The island is relatively safe but when you get here it does take some getting used to since you won't be having all the luxuries that you're used to back home. I'll leave the rest of the answers to everybody else that can answer it alot better than I could.

    Oops..nevermind

Nevermind, I was thinking that I was posting in the Ross Forum, not St Eustatius. What I was saying applies to Ross.
