    Many Questions

    Advertisements

Hi, I've been accepted for the Aug 06 class and have done quite a bit of research including taking to grads and current students but I have gotten alot of different answers so I was hoping I could clear some things up.

    1) What is AUC's residency rate, that is, how many of the 4th year students get residencies?

    2) What are the class schedules like for a first term student?

    3) Are there alot of distractions at St. Maarten?

    4) Has anyone heard anything about AUC adding any more clinical sites?

    5) How are the teaching facilities? Are they modern?

    6) What is the quality of the teaching staff?

    7) For those of you who are attending AUC, why did you choose AUC over other schools? What do you like most about AUC?

SOrry about the length of the message guys, Just trying to get as much information as possible, I have called the admissions office, but they only know so much, so I wanted 1st hand info from actual students. Thanks.

i'll take a stab at this..

    1) What is AUC's residency rate, that is, how many of the 4th year students get residencies?

    2) What are the class schedules like for a first term student?
-M-F 8am-11:30am for lectures, then M-Th 1:30pm-3:30pm for anatomy lab. 2 hours is the minimum requirement for lab, but i've found a couple of my lab partners and myself staying for at least 1 hour after.. it all depends on how much you wanna get out of it.
    3) Are there alot of distractions at St. Maarten?
-Again, it really does depend on your personality. If you're the studious dedicated type, then there's no distraction as the parties and clubs always seem "too far" away. But if you're distracted easily, then even cable TV or the internet at home can be the biggest distractions. But in terms of past time, there's always something to do if that's what you're looking for.
    4) Has anyone heard anything about AUC adding any more clinical sites?
    -not that i've heard of.
    5) How are the teaching facilities? Are they modern?
-AUC's current campus is pretty new, and i think it is pretty well equipped vs. the SOM at my undergrad institution.
    6) What is the quality of the teaching staff?
-I'm a 1st semester so I might not be the best judge of the quality. But from what I've experienced so far, the faculty here are quite knowledgable and approachable. Especially with Anatomy.
    7) For those of you who are attending AUC, why did you choose AUC over other schools? What do you like most about AUC?
-The island, the smaller class size, "reasonable" tuition vs. other Carib schools.

    hope that helps.
