    Attrition rate

    Advertisements

What is the attrition rate from 1st to fifth semester? At many Caribbean schools it seems that only one third of first semester students make it to rotations. The weedout process dogs the student right up to the USMLE. IT seems hard to believe that a school would fail out a student after first semester. Maybe they don't have enough clinicals for all??

see to truly figure out the attrition rate you need to do the following on day 1 of 1st semester look around you and count all the Idiots in your class and then multiply that by 50% that will be the number of students loss in first semester and you continue to do this for the start of every semester and at 5 th semester you will have a good solid number of the attrition rate

    for example---

1st has 150 students, 80 are idiots, therefore 40 shouldnt be there next semester hence 2nd semester starts with 110

now in 2nd semester you have idiots that have fallen behind (about 10 would be gained), therefore the count increases---so the class size is 120 with 50 idiots, so 25 shouldnt be there by 3rd semester

3rd semester you will have 95 people and an additional 10 that have fallen behind again so you are 105---now you have 35 idiots, so about 18 wont be there the following semester

4th semester you will now start with 87 but you will have another 10 or so fall behind from the semester ahead, so your class has 97 and in that group you should have 28 idiots or so--so you should lose about 14 more

so at the start of 5th semester you should have 83 people but you will gain another 10 from the previous semester so you will about 93 students and about 24 of them will be idiots and probably not pass step 1, therefore you have about a 73% pass rate on step 1

so that is how you get the attrition rate at a caribbean school--

If you fail at AUC, SGU, or Ross why not transfer to SMU, if you fail at SMU, why not try another SMU.

Wow. Scary how accurate that is (from what I've seen). I dunno about calling them 'idiots' but that's personal taste.
