    More AUC questions

    Advertisements

I apologize if some of these are repeats, but I did search as best I could to see if similar posts had been made recently. As all Texas premeds know, Feb 1st was match day. I had 3 interviews in Texas and did not get accepted. My AUC app is currently at the committee and I was told by "ira" that it would be 4-6 weeks.

At this point I am just hoping AUC gives me the point to proove myself, unlike the 3 schools who interviewed me. 26O mcat, 3.63 overall, 3.62 science.

    My questions are:

If I wanted to live in the campus view apts and they cost a fortune, are loans available to cover. I am coming in with no money,a nd no financial assistance, so I will be living on loans. I imagine loans are available for this?

Also, people talk about cars etc, is it possible to survive reasonably on the island without getting a used car/license? I am one who likes to walk , and dont mind a 20 minute walk or bike ride to class. Are there places that make that possible?

I am upset about not getting in Texas, but knew my app had weak spots, but I do look forward to AUC, and hopefully good news.

Thanks in advance for any input.

If you fail at AUC, SGU, or Ross why not transfer to SMU, if you fail at SMU, why not try another SMU.

yes, you can cover ALL of your expenses with loans...and then some, especially if your single.

Do you need a car? No. Life is easier, but you can share with other people or just get rides to go grocery shopping and/or go out on weekends.

talked w/ financial aid today. don't hold them to this because i may have half the conversation wrong, but if you're a us citizen, don't have any overdue rentals at blockbuster and have not shot up any post offices lately, you should be able to get enought fed loans, coupled w/private loans--at higher int. rates, of course--to cover tuition and living on the island.
once i started to get over the insult of being poked in the eye by the texas schools last night,(wounded pride is a ******) i began to remember how excited i was when i first discovered AUC on valuemd. have no idea how i'm gonna tie up all my loose ends here in under 90 days, but oh well. this is a good deal for me. hope it works out for you.

Private loans are credit based. If you have anything wrong with your credit, get if fixed now. With private loans, you can cover everything.

I personally share a car and it works just fine. A car is not necessary, but it makes life much easier. If you don't have the money, the loans should cover enough to buy an island car.
