    warning to dog owners

Just a warning to anyone who has dogs (especially those who live in or near Terres Basses)....someone poisoned one of our dogs Friday night. I just happened to look out the window and saw one of our dogs stumbling around outside...he kept walking into things and falling over. He couldn't see anything and had no idea where he was. I brought him inside, and he just fell over and started having seizures. He couldn't sit, stand or even hold his head up and was drooling uncontrolably. Luckily, we were able to reach the vet on his cell phone and get him to meet us at the clinic. After a very touch-and-go night at the animal hospital, he finally started to come around and was able to come home yesterday afternoon. He's gradually getting better and returning to his old self. However, the vet said that someone had taken rat poison and mixed it into some sort of stew and either fed it to him or left it out for him to eat...so it was definitely intentional. We don't really have any neighbors close to us, but the vet said that often people who are planning on robbing a house will poison the dogs first. So...everyone please be careful. Keep your homes locked up and keep a close eye on your dogs!!!

Someone stole or killed our landlord's dog when we were on the island, luckily leaving our dog alone. We had to stop letting our dog out during the day. Bastards.

Also, there's a lady on the french side that trains dogs not to eat stuff given to them by strangers. I don't know what her methods are or how effective she it. I think I saw the advertisement in the vet's office (the one by the Subway on the way to the French side)

Of course, you might be able just do it yourself by tossing over several different types treats and meat doused with extra-hot hot sauce or bitter apple or something like that. Just make sure your dog doesn't see you. Strangers are better, get some fellow students your dog doesn't know from school to come over and toss 'em into your yard or something.

    dogs

I am so sorry! That is just terrible I can not imagione how panicked y'all must have felt. That was the one good thing about having our dogs in our town house; we had to walk them and so they were never outside unattended. What a pain though.

I know that Barbara **** from housing also had her dog poisoned with the same sort of thing.... he was not as lucky though :-( It was very sad.

I hope that your dog gets back to 100% soon! Chip, Belle and Sally all miss them

That one is confirmed. Heard them talking about it this morning in class. Then heard them telling the story to a couple of the profs. There will be a memo coming out shortly about it. They said the car came up and bumped them. They stopped and when they did they were carjacked. Supposedly this type of scam had been going on for years down here.

During my "tenure," there was no carjackings that I know of but there were a few burglary and even a armed burglary.
Finally beat Super Mario Bros within 7 mins.
