Spouse Club: Bringing someone with you?

    Advertisements

If you are interested in applying to AUC or have already been accepted, and you are bringing someone with you, then please contact the AUC Spouse’s Organization. We can be reached at [email protected] and our group site is www.groups.msn.com/AUCSpousesClub. We also have our new home page up and running at www.aucspouses.org

We are a diverse group of spouses, girlfriends/boyfriends, life partners, fiancés and fiancées, best friends, and even the mother of an AUC student! Through our Sponsor Program, an incoming Loved One is assigned a Sponsor. This sponsor is a current member of the Spouse’s Organization who will be directly involved in answering any questions about the island, the transition to living here or even about school for you. They also help resolve concerns, assist you with finding housing/ cars, arrange for you to be picked up from the airport, and, if you want, they can give you a "tour" of the island so you know where everything is like supermarkets, utilities offices, banks, etc.

We look forward to hearing from you!

    AUC Spouse’s Organization
    Vice President and Sponsor Coordinator

I wanted to know regarding my spouse working there. I do know that she needs a work permit and has a specified trade skill. She is US licensed hair stylest/estastacian. I wanted to know if the SO has any contacts with the resorts to get manager info so my spouse can send her resume? thanks for your help!!!

I will tell you from experience that it is VERY difficult to obtian a work permit down here on the island. I did a lot of research before I came down to the island and had already interviewed, and still no job. I am a nurse and they really don't even want to give me a work permit. Tell your spouse to get on the internet, get an international calling card (www.speedypin.com), and start looking and calling places to see what their requirements are. Best of luck!

You are the student, right? This isn't a student organization, it's a spouse, family, and sig. other of students organization.

Your dog may join if you consider her/him your significant other.

    Work On The Island

Forget It. I Wanted To Work And It Would Cost About $ 850.00 To Apply. And You Will Never Get A Job. The Person That Tells You They Work. Ask Them To Email A Copy Of There Card. They Cant. I Rest My Case.

    dear xray

i'm sorry your experience thus far has been so horrible. if you want a job ck with note services on campus (no visa req'd). or if you are a certified teacher check with the canadian school. There is also a new post on the Spouse's board for a fun sounding job that actually requires travel to other islands (or the horror! LOL!) if i am making a mistake assuming you are a spouse i apologize. also, i am pretty sure the visa application is only $250 (maybe a specialized one is more?)

good luck and remember attitude is everything, i know it is hard to sacrifce so much to get here to this little rock but really it can be enjoyable if you can get busy and start exploring and making friends. if you happen to be a student...get studying!! not much more gratifying than seeing those H's starting to line up...

    Ms

Just got accepted for the August class. I am still waiting on a decision from my state school. If I am not accepted there, it will be quite an adventure on SXM.

I was wondering if someone had a bit more information on the KIDS school as well as rental properties. If possible, we'd be looking for a 3 bdr.

    Thanks everyone!!!
