    Which BRSes are helpful?

    Advertisements

Which BRSes are actually helpful and worth buying?

    Owned:
BRS for anatomy (only used the practice questions)
BRS for histology (really helpful -> supplemented lecture notes)
BRS for biochemistry (never cracked it open past the first chapter)
BRS for Psychiatry/Behavioral science (never cracked them open)
BRS for Physiology (EXTREMELY HELPFUL -> helped me study for the shelf)

    Desperately need opinions before buying:
    BRS for neuroanatomy
    BRS for micro/immunology.

The micro/immuno BRS is not worth buying in my opinion. It has minimal information. Get the Warriner book instead, it's really good.
I never used or looked at the Neuroanatomy BRS so I can't comment on it.

For micro I would also recommend the Lippincot falsh cards. They were really good, I used them to study for the shelf and the class. A really great tool for studying for the exams.

For micro i would recommend Dr S. notes.....they were right on for the shelf and step 1.....kaplan micro notes arent too bad.....not great but not too bad. Also FA has a pretty HY section. I used bugcards but found they had too much extraneous information

all the ones in red are the ones i used the most. anatomy by far was the best one... i thought it was really useful on top of the benchmarks. the BRS for neuroanatomy was also helpful as an additional source.
the best thing to do is to go to the library and look at them for yourself before investing in them. i think i got my moneys worth from them... and i owned most of them.

You da man micro. Got any tips for next semester's micro/immuno and/or neuroscience shelf? (That physio shelf looked like nothing I'd seen from BRS or Kaplan or Kaplan Q-Bank or PreTest).

really? I thought the Physio shelf was really dead on in terms of BRS Physio. Oh well. :P

Neuroscience shelf.... her notes are really good. Not sure if u have time to go through it all but Hi-Yield Neuroanatomy is also a good read and thin enough.

Immuno shelf=a joke. 20-25 questions. You can read first aid immuno section for it. And even if you don't study it, I'd bet u get most of the questions right anyways.

    Good luck.
