    Getting Started

    Advertisements

I was looking at the calender for fall. Firstly what is the exact date that class starts and how long is orientation? My parents are planning on coming down for a little bit to help me get settled. What do you think the best days are that they come down here? Also, do we not get a summer break between years one and two? For the breaks that we do have is it common for students to fly back and forth all the time?

There is no summer break between year 1 and 2. You have to fly back and forth between the breaks. The breaks are about 10-12 days (give or take a day).
I don't suffer from insanity; I enjoy every minute of it.
I used to have a handle on life, but it broke.

I know this has been covered because I responded to it already. You can practice in any state in the US after graduating from AUC (this includes california). This is not true, however, with all caribbean med schools.

I got accepted earlier this week. From what I hear, you can practice in every state except for maybe Texas. I could be wrong

You've been accepted already and you don't know the answer to this?!!? YOU CAN PRACTICE IN ANY STATE!!!!! "Any state" would mean all 50 of them, including Texas.

As of right now, you have to take all of the particular rotations that will make you eglible to pratice in Texas. therefore BY DEFAULT YOU WILL BE ABLE TO PRATICE IN TEXAS.

you will not have to do anything special to pratice in texas, the "special" stuff is now a normal part of the curicculum here

As a general rule, the better it felt when you said it, the more trouble it's going to get you into.

    Texas State Liscensure

Yoda, the truth you speak. Sorry could'nt resist. There are a few hoops that you have to jump through before getting into the Grand State of Texas. The info can be found at http://www.tsbme.state.tx.us/, and the folks there are real helpful and will be glad to answer your questions via email. I suggest if you are interested in practicing in Texas, you better get in contact with them and get your ducks in a row. It will save headaches later.

    From the inside,

    Jerry

You "have to" fly back and forth between semesters? What are you talking about? Don't think that this is a fact. If so, who the he$$ 'makes' you leave? I am sure that there are plenty of students that stay for the entire basic sciences stint, no?
