    Grading at AUC

    Advertisements

I was just wondering about the grading system at AUC. Do they use a curve or not. One of my professors during my undergrad was an MD/PhD and used a curve because he said that when we get to med school they would use a curve as well. It didnt sound right, but I thought I would ask anyway.

    Thanks

Grading is done by straight scale Honor/Pass/Fail system. Where Honor is 90% and above, Pass is 70% and above, and fail is less than 70%. No curve, sorry.

So what do you have on your transcripts? H/P/F or the trad A-F.

We have H/P/F and a numerical GPA. Like XX% calculated by what you got in the class and how many units it was worth.

    Percentage

We were told that our percentage grades would NOT show up on our transcript, ONLY the H/P/F. So technically, you could pass with a 70.1% in every cass and you would have exactly the same transcript as someone who passed with an 89% in every class.

    Whether I believe that, I don't know....

I dunno. Possibly? I know some of the clinical sites have gpa requirements, but that's before graduation. Daddy keeps talking about grades and how they mean little for residency anyways. So I dunno.

Hey *****, the transcript they sent UT back in August had my Numerical grades along with my H's and so on. So there is no telling what they are supposed to do or what they will do when it's time for you guys to have them sent to ERAS, only the shadow knows!!

    Sup Jerry?

Yeah I know what you mean. It's possible that they reported your numberical grades as part of your transfer to UT... I know in OU's transfer policy, they require numerical grades. Not sure if that's how they report them to ERAS and ECFMG or not. I remember one person who came back to give us a pep talk at the school was ticked because when he applied to residency, they put all his numericals on the transcript, when he was told it would only be H/P/F. Then when he called MEIO to see what was up, they didn't know what he was talking about, said there was no way it would have numeric grades on it and he must have been mistaken (yeah right!). Seems that's their patent answer to lots of things. I'm not holding my breath either way.

As for the weight, yeah people keep telling me that. I've lost about 46 lbs altogether, I think. Still working on it now, excercising and trying to eat better. Hoping to lose another 50 or so, and I should be in good shape. Got a baby coming and all.... thought I'd better make sure I'll be around for the long haul, eh?

    ...

I was told by the Registrar at AUC that percentages do not show up on official transcripts. When we recently received an official transcript from MEAS, only H/P's were listed, no grades.
