get caribserve
Oh man. After two weeks and one day, all of us are finally back online!
For those of you new incoming people, IDL is alright. Mostly reliable, but if it goes down, don't expect it to be fixed anytime soon.
Also, once again, Marshall's is extremely shady. My friend went to return his car, they tried charging him an extra month, made him wait a few hours, and it'll take about a week to get his refund on his security deposit, if at all!
Posterior Fornix.
I would also encourage more people to approach UTS ... they mainly are a business provider (expecting $750 for the equpt), but I do think that if enough people talk to them, that some kinda rental deal could be made with them for a reasonable monthly cost.Originally Posted by levator
On the subject of IDL, I'd stay away from them. Since I started service with them almost a yr ago, I've found that they're not particularly reliable and multiple times have I called to say I have not internet happening with the common reply that it's on our end ..... only to find out, there was a problem on their end. (And this one time, even had the lamer technician suggest that out computer needed to be reformatted due to too many processes running).
So, all in all, I've not had stable internet for more than 1.5-2 wks in a row before some tower blows up, main satellite dish problems to various degrees, waiting on parts to be flown in, etc...... My point? It's a bloody mess.
So, as levator has succinctly said, stick with Caribserve.
I will also throw in a recommendation for caribserve. I've had it for about 2 months now and the only time it went down was for 2 days when this entire side of the island was out of cable.. so its pretty good. After you buy the equipment the price isn't to bad. I believe it is under $50 a month for service if you pay for 3 months in advance.

I'd go with Caribserve, even if we were in the US, I'd consider them great. They send out emails like "we're going to have problem X at 7:30- 8:15 tommorow because of X.." and always explain slown downs or potential problems. I've had issue and emailed them about problems and have gotten back phone calls within the hour, including after 10pm and on weekends.
Apparently they didn't get the "island-wife memo" to slack off and by some odd mistake actually seem to care about your business and want you as a customer. It just seems so ut of place...
