so dont we all countdowning for touch down or take off of the island? I just torn off the last month calender off the wall and it is December finally. I just want to bring up a point that I just discussed with Micro about Headset use. He has agreed that there is strong research evidences that pairs the habitual use of headset and hair cell damage so your hearing. Then he saved no time to put it back on to listen to his favorite country music off the lap top ...Anyway, I have been wondering why so many of us appers not care of the fact that constant use of ear set or headset eventually and surprisingly quickly damage your hair cell in the Cochlea. The damage are mostly permanent and irreverisble. The study says that anything higer than nornal talk begins to dampen your hair cell accuity. No wonder waiter and waitresses take wrong orders at loud restaurant. Decibel attak anything above 80 (cant recall exact value but it is slightly higher than normal talk)or higher does destroy your hair cells.

Thus the madness of Apple Ipod and even latest satellite radio is totally unaccpetable for precious hearing health. What concerns me is that the head set use becoming a norm today.

The other day, on my way to school I saw a backhoe driver in my parking lot broke the concret with jack hammers at gut tearing noise and vibrationg and had no hearing protective gear. I could not help but drop my backpack to get a pair of my earplug---study earplug-to hand him over the window. He smiled and eargerly put them in his ear right away as I told him so.

Many studys point out that headset for music is risky. Think of it as it is exact opposite job to the airline lamp guys use to protect the hearing everyday. Those are designed to block and dissipate the jet noise and our headset condense the noise into very high decibel that insult our precious hair cells...

    just my little cents..

    Aaah...

Kennethur, you are most wise beyond your years.

Very insightful, but the joy of listening to loud music overcomes any sense of 'rational thinking'...which is what makes us all human.

Are you sure you don't have some Vulcan blood running through your veins??

    We could all use some.

Well. everyone happy holidays for ya. I am far from wise but I am at least kin to the seemingly insiginificant things. I remember one nuclear physicst's favorite quote as "all the macro objects and phenomenons are consititutes of many micro things in subatomic sclaes so I appreciate them as much as vislble". That makes sense...

I read fine prints yet am able see the forests so I wont get lost in the mountain.

"turbulence on a pair of butterflys wings may cause hurricane thousands miles across the contient". Chaotic theory.

    happy holidays..

I am more of a "huriricane thousands of miles away will cause a butterfly's wings to be turbulent" kind of guy
