    Professor's Notes.

    Greetings:

I'm just curious. Do most of the professors give notes on Powerpoint slides? And if so, are the notes really useful or do you end up having to read most of the book anyways? Thanks.

Yes, a vast majority of the profs here use powerpoint.

Professor notes are exactly that...notes. They are in no way meant to replace the required textbooks for most classes.

    Aloha,

    Aloha,
except if you're Dr. Menon who writes an entire book as her notes. But everything on the Shelf was covered in her notes so I was pleasantly surprised.

Most teacher use powerpoint slides. All of them make a hard copy of the notes available in note services. I'm not sure what's going on as far as payment for next semester, but currently we pay a flat fee ( i think it was about $200) at teh beginning of the semester.

As far as whether or not to focus on the textbook, it depends on your professor. Certain teachers give good notes and certain ones don't. For example: Dr. Menon gives excellent notes so you don't really need to use a textbook except for clarification. Dr. Gilleteaux however (who teaches the same course) gives horrible notes (or at least he did when I took the course). They were 80% pictures and thus you MUST look at the book. Dr. Blevins gives 95% graphs............actually some advice on that.....RECORD HIS LECTURES!!!! Other classes you need to use them both (ex: Genetics). It also depends on your personal preferance. I rarely ever used Anatomy notes and I did fairly well in the course. Others did and may or may not have done well. Point blank you really need to know the professor's testing style or you're screwed either way (ex: PHYSIOLOGY)
